The Czech team didn't have a very good last game of the tournament in Brno, but their victory against Finland, dogged performance against Switzerland and, above all, the active style of play, are a great promise for the future. There were about a thousand of schoolchildren in the stands.
The Czech national team played their last game at the EFT tournament in Brno tonight. They encountered Sweden and went into the game with great expectations. The Tre Kronor national team is historically the most successful floorball country and has never been beaten by the Czech Republic. And after tonight's game, this record still remains unchanged. Sweden crushed the Czech Republic by 15:5.
The Czech junior national team concluded the tournament with a loss. Swedish players were clear favourites, because their players at this EFT event are much older and more experienced than their Czech counterparts. Therefore, fans were not surprised by the big goal difference in the final score.
Before the tournament the Czech national team set a clear objective – to beat Sweden for the first time in history. So, the arena in Vodova street, Brno, will have a chance to see a tight game, in which the Czechs will do their best to fulfil their goal.
The last day of this year's biggest national team floorball event in the Czech Republic was opened by the juniors of Finland against the equally aged Swiss players. The game confirmed that Finland brought the strongest youth team to Brno and won their third match as well, this time by 8:5.
After failing at last year's world championship in Helsinki, the Swiss floorball association was looking for a new coach for quite a long time. In the end, the Swiss national team was taken over by Petteri Nykky this year in April. The experienced Finn is famous for two consecutive titles of world champions he won with the Finnish national team.
Today, at 13:00, junior teams of the Czech Republic and Sweden will begin their battle in the arena in Vodova street, Brno. The Czech youngsters will try to cause as much trouble as possible to the favourites in their last match of the tournament and fight for the final second place. However, they will be facing a very tough job because the Swedes came to Brno with a bit older selection comprising mainly players born in 1993.
